Legends Inductions 2022: The Results

The legends committee has totaled the votes from the committee members and community, and we are now in a position to reveal to the new set of army legends- major and small-medium- for 2022.

Before getting to the juicy results, we will take this time to reiterate the process. The main committee is made up for 11 individuals who will all have an equal say in proceedings and have one vote per candidate. Candidates need 6 votes (or 8 votes, in the case of small-medium inductions due to the extra three members) in order to be inducted into the legends page this year, as they would hold an overall majority of the committee at this threshold. Below are the individuals that make up the this year’s legends committee:

  • Iceyfeet1234 – 2008 Army Legend
  • Mchappy – 2011 Army Legend
  • Orange – 2016 S/M Army Legend
  • Ayan – 2020 Army Legend
  • Crazzy – 2020 Army Legend
  • CSY – 2020 Army Legend
  • DMT – 2019 Army Legend
  • Regan – 2020 Army Legend
  • Superhero123 – 2019 Army Legend
  • Xing – 2018 Army Legend
  • Ganger90 – 2011 Army Legend

The following are only voting on small-medium legends, aided by the main committee:

  • Freedomist – 2020 S/M Army Legend
  • Lightningmcj – 2020 S/M Army Legend
  • Mare – 2021 S/M Army Legend

Please note that those only voting on the small-medium legends did contribute to the discussion at large, yet ultimately could only vote on small-medium nominations.

Without further adieu, I can now present to you the newly inducted legends and small-medium legends for 2022. I will first present the totals for the community vote then the combined results with the final outcome is found underneath.

Community Votes

Originally there were close to 190 votes casted through the form by the community. However, after going through to verify, only 130 valid votes were casted this year. Moving forward, we will continue to evaluate the community vote and its place in the legends inductions process. It is important that the community has a voice in matters such as these, but we strongly feel that we still have yet to perfect how to conduct a fair community vote.

Legends Community Votes

  • IceQueen – 66.9% Yes
  • DrQueen – 63.8% Yes
  • Aaronstone42 – 56.2% Yes
  • Kally – 53.1% Yes
  • Wynn – 39.2% Yes
  • Max – 33.1% Yes
  • Snowy – 30.8% Yes
  • Link3000 – 26.9% Yes
  • Coolguy – 25.4% Yes
  • Elexonck – 25.4% Yes
  • Cabin – 19.2% Yes
  • Nicky 3070 – 19.2% Yes
  • Racecar 4 – 19.2% Yes
  • Calgocubs21 – 19.2% Yes
  • Guncotton – 18.5% Yes

Small-Medium Community Votes

  • Dragon – 46.2% Yes
  • Zeus – 26.2% Yes
  • Pandor – 23.1% Yes
  • BoMoBuddy – 20.8% Yes
  • TD999 – 20% Yes
  • Midnight – 15.4% Yes

As you can see by some of the percentages, it is clear that people were voting based on alliance lines rather than maybe their own rational conclusions. The committee would like to remind everyone that your vote will never be revealed to others and only the Heads of the legends committee have access to the votes. We advocate for a vote where you come to your decision with your own thoughts and opinions in mind.

Congratulations to all those that were inducted! Thank you to everyone who got involved in the process this year, including those who voted on the form. Cheers to a successful 2023 for armies.

Personal closing words on the legends inductions system:

It would not be a legends inductions without a little spice. As we have in the past, the legends committee prides itself in being able to run independently of other organizations. As we continue to see, other forms of media continue to prop up and attempt to form their own legends committee. In times like these, it is important we recognize that the legends committee conducts these inductions to the best of our abilities. I am always interested in hearing feedback, and the major feedback from last year’s was addressing the “inactive legends” controversy.

This year, in favor of keeping an active committee, we did not ask many legends from last year to return for this year’s inductions. As a result, the legends committee was much smaller thus making it relatively easier to be inducted. While I do not mean to bring this up as a way to take away from those inducted, the truth of the matter is that, due to the smaller committee, many people may disagree with those that were nominated and even inducted as of today.

One voice that was initially against this year’s legends committee was Rowan, newly promoted Chief Executive Producer of Club Penguin Armies. After having an amicable conversation, Rowan came to a revelation: “Maybe the community was partially wrong about the role of inactive legends within the committee.” A common compliant of the 2020 legends inductions was the involvement of non-legends, primarily media heads. A common compliant of the 2021 legends inductions was the involvement of inactive legends. This year, the common compliant was surrounded around controversial nominations. The less variety in opinions led to the nominations you saw a few weeks ago.

With a smaller committee, every member’s voices only is able to be amplified a little louder. One would be able to look at the committee list and see that it is made up of people affiliated with currently active armies: Army of Club Penguin, Help Force, Ice Warriors, Rebel Penguin Federation, Special Weapons and Tactics, Templars, and Water Vikings. DMT (former administrator) and Lightningmcj stand as the only people on this year’s committee not affiliated with an active army, Lightningmcj being Pizza Federation.

Regardless, with this year’s inductions, the following year has the potential to be much larger. My hope is that the legends committee will continue to listen to the community at large and refine the legends process. Overall, within the committee itself, this year’s inductions were ran very smoothly aside from a leaky faucet.

My personal recommendation moving forward would be to address the community votes. While I believe all armies should have the opportunity to mention the legends process in their respective servers, I have a suggestion. Potentially next year the legends committee could only award those who hit a certain threshold with an extra vote and disregard the over 50% additional point (+2) rule all together. An example could be that, as a major nominee, one would need 40% to even be eligible for the community vote AND be in the top three to receive the community vote. For small-medium nominees, that percentage could be 35%.

Whatever the general opinions of this year’s inductions are, know that the Heads will always do our best to run the most fair legends inductions process as possible. And with that, I thank you for your patience.

EDIT: It was originally brought to our attention during the nomination discussions that Cookky2, SavageCobra, and Xing were moved down to the Small-Medium Legends category during September 2020’s legends committee. However, this change was never reflected on the official legend pages by any of the subsequential committees. The legends committee of 2022 honors this decision but will be moving to formally recognize Xing as a major legend based on a committee vote. It was important to us to continue to honor the legacy, and decisions, of those before us. This decision does come at a time where the conversation about adjusting legend’s years may be able to take place in the future.
