CPAHQ Statement: Toxicity in Tournaments

KLONDIKE, CP Army Headquarters- The community has fell victim to inappropriate actions within our tournaments.  Therefore, CPAHQ has drafted a statement regarding toxicity in our own competitions.

Although CPAHQ is a news site, our own tournaments are our domain and we can manage them out accordingly. It has become apparent that the Templars have been extremely inappropriate over the course of Project: Conquest.  The Templars have had multiple members indulge in harassing competing armies with inappropriate behavior, such as the use of homophobic slurs and bigoted imagery.    When these individuals and their actions are brought forth to the leaders of the Templars, the leaders fail to take proper action to protect the armies they are competing with in a tournament they were invited to.  An invitation to a tournament assumes a responsibility of the army invited.  Every invited army is expected to help CPAHQ in making the tournament environment a fair, proper, and welcome one.  The actions of the Templars have been detrimental to that.

These actions cannot go unnoticed. Therefore, the CPAHQ administration has decided that the Templars will be forced to forfeit their invasions this week. DeeP is also banned from attending any more P:C battles due to his blatant volatility. Any battle that DeeP attends will result in a forfeit.  For those who think this is an overstepping of our boundaries, or a violation of ‘free speech’, I have one word for you: cope.

In addition, from here on out, we will start enforcing conduct rules that armies must follow in order to participate in our competitions. These rules will also be active for this tournament once published. Infractions can and will result in expulsion. This is something we should have done long before, but will do so now in order to ensure these things are punished properly.  Expect these rules to be published by the end of the week.

To those who have been affected by what has transpired, we would like to apologize.  Not only for the toleration of such beliefs, but for our failure to improve upon an issue that has existed for years now.  Punishments can only go so far.  Setting out rules will do more than slapping inappropriate individuals on the wrist.  We also encourage the community to speak out on any issues that face them as such.  CPAHQ is not the authority of the community.  We do what we believe is right where we can.  We will report on anything that happens in the army world.  The true power of change lies with the collective voice of the community.  Fight injustice by banding together and informing those who are not aware.  With that, we can all hope for an inclusive environment in the future.
