Special Weapons and Tactics Return After Hiatus Under New Leadership

KLONDIKE, Club Penguin Army Headquarters – After just missing the mark in recent Top Ten rankings, a string of leadership changes results in an event that will surely leave an impact on next week’s standings.

Special Weapons and Tactics was created in 2009 by Ganger90. The army proved to be one of the first successful rogue armies. Most notably the army gained popularity for its rogue skirmishes with the Army of Club Penguin, creating a long-lasting rivalry. Ganger90 and his army remained dormant until early 2020 when its revival occurred at Club Penguin Online. Since then the army has managed to avoid shutting down despite the multiple private server transitions by the community.

The last event posted to SWAT website on March 22nd, 2022.

The last time SWAT found themselves placed within a top ten position was roughly two months ago on March 20th, 2022 where they had placed ninth. Since then the army has not successfully submitted weekly events resulting in their absence from the list. There may be a variety of reasons to explain this absence; one may be that with only one current leader, Coolguy, there was a lack of availability to lead events.

In an effort to bounce back, it was announced that three additional new leaders would be introduced: Jakob, L90, and Legoman. All three have been apart of the army for a considerable time with Legoman particularly having led before, being an Honorable Troop awardee.

Following the inauguration announcement, hype for a return event resulted in one of their largest events in a while. Templars‘ leaders, Nicky and Xing, both attended in support as a possible tease between an alliance forming between the two armies.

SWAT at their most recent event held on May 18th, 2022.

CP Army HQ spoke exclusively with Jakob directly after the event to find out his thoughts on the recent promotion.

How does it feel to have been promoted to leader?

It feels quite exciting. This has been my dream since I got into SWAT and now that I’ve achieved it many great things will come. I initially joined SWAT in late July of 2020 as an ally, but I became enlisted a few months later. After I became enlisted, I quickly rose through the ranks. Within a few months I became a staff in training on April 24th, 2021. […]Once I got that settled out I was aiming for leader.

What do you think helped contribute to the successful event you had today?

I believe the things that contributed to this very successful event was of the strong coordination, preparation, and the buildup to it.

What do you plan to accomplish in your time as leader?

I plan to accomplish a lot. I want to hit a recruitment milestone of 1,000, have stronger events, and make a better community.

From the interview it is clear that SWAT plans on riding this moment to greater heights and utilizing experienced veterans combined with new perspective. Will it be enough to keep their heads above the water? We will certainly found at in the coming weeks as we eagerly await future Top Tens.
