CPAHQ Statement: Status of Templars vs Water Vikings War (2022)

KLONDIKE, CP Army Headquarters- Two hours ago, the Templars declared war on the Water Vikings, causing the administration to launch an examination of the Treaty of the Axe and Sword.

On January 19th, 2022, at 7 PM EST, the Templars transferred their entire nation to the People’s Imperial Confederation.

Two minutes later (7:02 PM EST), the Templars declared war on the Water Vikings.

The Treaty of the Axe and Sword, which was put into effect on December 3rd, 2021, is still currently in effect.  The treaty does not expire until April 4th, 2022.

The Head Judges and members of the Administration began reviewing the transfer, declaration, and treaty almost instantly. After some time, a statement was sent to Aaronstone42, Water Vikings leader, and Xing, Templars leader:

After review, CPAHQ determined that the Templars broke term four of the Treaty of the Axe and Sword by transferring all of their land to the People’s Imperial Confederation and then proceeding to declare war on the Water Vikings. This is specifically covered by the language used in the treaty- “…even if territories are transferred.” As a result of this breakage of the treaty, the transfer to PIC is deemed invalid, and the servers will instead go to WV. The Treaty of the Axe and Sword will continue to be recognized until its expiration date, which is April 4th, 2022.

To explain further, by transferring their servers to the People’s Imperial Confederation- and declaring war just two minutes later- it is clear that the maneuver was meant to serve as a loophole to the treaty.  The treaty specifically disallows transferring servers to avoid losing all land by declaring war, which would be a violation of the second term.

At 7:53 PM EST, the Templars declared war on the Water Vikings again.

The Head Judges and members of the Administration began reviewing this declaration instantly.  After a short time, another statement was sent to Aaronstone and Xing:

After review, CPAHQ determined that the Templars broke term two of the Treaty of the Axe and Sword by declaring war on the Water Vikings. Any conflict between the two armies until the treaty is expired will be deemed invalid, as covered by the language used in the treaty: “The Templars and Water Vikings cannot engage in another conflict against one another”. As a result of this breakage of the treaty, all zero of Templars servers will be transferred to WV. The Treaty of the Axe and Sword will continue to be recognized until its expiration date.

To explain further, the verbiage used in the treaty clearly prohibits any conflict- which includes a declaration of war- to be invalid until the treaty is expired.  As it was stated in the previous statement sent to both leaders, the Treaty of the Axe and Sword was still in effect, and will continue to be until April 4th, 2022.  Literally speaking, a conflict between the two armies cannot happen until that date.

In summary, the Templars server transfer to the People’s Imperial Confederation and subsequent declaration of war on the Water Vikings was deemed to conjunctly violate term four of the Treaty of the Axe and Sword.  As a result, The Templars 34 servers now belong  to the Water Vikings, due to the punishment for violating term four.  It was expressed to both armies that the treaty would continue to stay in place.  Because of this, The Templars second declaration of war against WV was deemed to violate term two of the Treaty of the Axe and Sword.

For future situations, CPAHQ advises army leaders to review the verbiage of treaties before attempting to circumvent them.
