In The Limelight: Lime Green Army Returns

GREAT WHITE, Lime Green Army Capital  With the holiday season going on currently, the army community witnessed the return of an old army, the Lime Green Army. What led to this revival, and what have they got in store for the army community?

On December 18th, an old army decided to make a comeback to the army community for a new generation. The army goes by the name – Lime Green Army. Being led by Komodo and Toastyy, the army had its revival event on the following day, which saw 8 people logging on to welcome back the army to the community.

Lime Green Army – Revival Event on December 19th.

The Lime Green Army was created by Greeny on April 5th, 2013, after he left his main army, the Barbarian Empire. During the summer of 2016, when the first version of the Club Penguin Armies server map was introduced, the Lime Green Army held multiple invasions and ended up having a huge impact on the map, being in control of most of the servers. This led to the army having tensions and wars with multiple other armies existing back then, after which the army decided to merge into the Rebel Penguin Federation on August 7th, 2016. During this time in 2016, the army also achieved 5th place two weeks in a row on Club Penguin Army Central, which was functioning as a media outlet for armies back then. The army made a return to the community once again in the year 2019 when army Veteran Memmaw and creator Greeny decided to revive it. It was in this year, that Chainpro joined the leadership, and after he retired, Zeke took charge of the army. Under the leadership of Zeke, the Invaders merged into the army, resulting in the army having a new co-leader, Fresh. On the 16th of August 2019, after Zeke stepped down to the role of an Advisor – Karma took over the army, and it was under Karma’s leadership, that the army engaged in wars with other armies like the Pretzels and the Recon Federation of Club Penguin. The army shut down on the 29th of December 2019, due to the lack of activity, but would again be revived the next year, on the 2nd of April, after which they earned the spot of the 6th highest army on the Club Penguin Army Media on April 25th, 2020 and formed an alliance with the Rebel Penguin Federation. Following this, the army got involved in the Coup of Moshivictus with their RPF allies and went against the Chaos Army and the Army of Club Penguin, wherein they would end up winning the first battle of the war (the Defense of Tuxedo) successfully defending RPF’s land, Tuxedo. The Lime Green Army is back again this year, with Komodo and Toastyy as leaders, and Greeny as an advisor of the army. They have already held a training event, and are planning to have a practice battle soon with their allies, the Trojans.

CPAHQ had the opportunity to get in touch with Greeny, the Lime Green Army’s founder, and know his thoughts on the revival.

What were your intentions and motivations behind creating the Lime Green Army?

Well, I created LGA back in 2013. Back then, I was about 10 years old. Honestly, it was a weird process. You could call me a “noob” at the time, but I based the name off what was taken on Xat. So first I tried “GreenArmyOfClubPenguin” but it was taken. So next I tried, “LimeGreenArmyOfClubPenguin” and it worked. Green used to be my favorite color, as apparent from my name. I didn’t really have any intentions at first, it was more for my friends and I to have fun. Summer 2014 we took it a bit serious and that’s where we first maxed 18. When we returned in 2019, it was mainly used as a placeholder for my league at the time, but Chainpro took it over and started bringing in recruits. I joined him, as LGA was my creation, so I wanted to see it thrive regardless. We proceeded to have two solid generations, one in 2019, and especially the one in 2020 where we managed to peak at 35.

What was the reason behind your approval for another revival of the army, after 2020?

You know, I just bought a gaming PC. So, I’m on here a lot more than I should be. That gave me the opportunity to be on discord more. Hippiefresh also known as Fresh, an LGA legend, and I discussed the possibility of a return. However, both him and I have jobs, plus I’m starting college. I told him I’d let it come back under another leadership. He found the two leaders, and here we are. Mainly nostalgia, I had a lot of fun memories in LGA. Especially in 2019 and 2020.

What are your expectations from this revival?

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t expecting the results that we’ve gotten already. We maxed 8 at our revival, which I missed due to my sleep schedule. That still impressed me, as they were missing a number of vets who claimed that they would show up. So from here, I expect a steady increase. It may be a bit slow, but that is okay. The next step is 10+, then 15+, then 20+ and beyond.

Could you share your favorite memory/memories of the army with me from the previous generations, if it’s not too personal?

Honestly it’s hard to name one, especially with how bad my memory is. I think there’s too many to list one, I realized the main fun in the army is not logging onto Club Penguin itself, it’s the community you surround yourself with. My community, I felt, was one of the best in the communities. We were all very close, and not in a weird way like RFCP. That’s probably even my favorite memory from this generation is seeing all the veterans return. Our best moment together was likely when we were 1 room away from tying the finals of the last tournament we were in. So close, but at least we got the biggest rise trophy which meant a lot to us. Hopefully we win some more awards this generation!

As an advisor for the army now, and given that you have been in the army community for quite some time – have you had experiences from which you have learned, and which you would like to see be incorporated into the army for this generation? If yes, what are they?

Oh for sure. I’ve been using inspiration from other armies since I started Club Penguin. I feel as emulating the success of others is the smart thing to do, as you want to be as successful as they are. I’ve been in armies throughout the course of LGA, since I created LGA after my first army became inactive. It’s sorta cliché and there’s not a specific army that I’m taking this from, but teamwork is the only way and army can function. When there’s beef within the army, it needs to be squashed fast. Otherwise, it’ll become bigger than it is. So hopefully everyone this generation can get along.

Where do you see the army going in about a year’s time from now?

Good question. It’s hard for me to predict the future, but my hope is that we’ll still be around. Our past two generations, neither lasted an entire year. If we could do that this generation without dipping tremendously in size, I would be impressed. So as long as we’re still alive, I could see us in the 20s (regarding size) by then.

Before we conclude, is there anything else you would like to say, or any advice you would like to give to the readers in general?

Don’t sleep on LGA 😉

From the above conversation with Greeny, it seems that he is determined in making sure that the army reaches great heights, just as their previous generations did. Greeny is confident that the army will do just as great if not better than the previous generation, but only time will tell if this once-dominant S/M is able to sustain the good results. We can’t wait to see all that the army has in store for the community, and wish Greeny and the Lime Green Army, best of luck in all their future endeavors!
