BREAKING NEWS: Max Has “No Regrets” As He Steps Down As ACP Leader

BREEZE, ACP Empire – In a surprising turn of events, Army of CP Commander Max has left a considerable gap in the leadership of the army by announcing his retirement, days after they withdrew from the Legends Cup XI tournament.

Max was a member of the original CP Army community, starting out in the Pirates in 2010, but came to the CPPS community when he rejoined the Army of CP as a private in November 2019. He was incredibly loyal to the army, and worked his way up to the rank of 2ic by February 2020. It was a long wait for Max to later become leader, as he worked closely under solo-leader CSY. He would have to wait nearly 16 months until he was promoted to leader on June 1st, 2021. Since then, he has spent the last two months working as leader with CSY and Cubster, who was promoted alongside him. In his time as leader the ACP have stayed an almost ever-present in the top four, maintaining their existence as one of the major contenders in the community. The highlight of his leadership could be victory in the first ever Project: Conquest competition, beating close competition from Silver Empire and Templars. Within the last week, Max and the rest of the leadership withdrew from the Legends Cup due to a “lack of motivation” due to seeding similarities to old tournaments.

The Army of CP won the inaugural ‘Project: Conquest’ under Max’s leadership.

Outside of ACP, Max was prominent in the media section of armies. He initially started as a reporter in CP Army Media and worked up to Vice President by July 2020. He played an important part in the merge between CP Army Media and CP Army League, to become an Executive Producer of CP Army Hub until its closure in January 2021. Max played a crucial role as part of CPAH’s administration, working alongside LuciferStar and Pookie, often in-charge of directing and organising content. He also used his role as administrator to promote LGBTQIA+ events and equality within the army community, with huge numbers turning out to support these events.

In his somewhat brief retirement post, he did not give any reason as to why he had decided to retire. However, he did give time to reflect on his journey within the army and how grateful he has been to have had this experience. Below is an excerpt from his retirement post:

Oh wow, this is so much harder than I thought it would be. I joined ACP on November 11th, 2019. And while I’ve been teased by some of my retired friends that I should have left a while ago, I can honestly say that every single day across the past 1 year and 8 months have been worth it. This experience – the good, bad, and ugly – has been the best fun, the most insane and sometimes extremely overwhelming. But I am so grateful to have lived through it all, with every one of you.

In this part of the post we can see that he has valued his experience within the Army of CP, and that he has left the army on good terms. To find out more, CP Army Headquarters was able to access an exclusive interview in the direct aftermath of Max’s retirement from the ACP.

Your retirement from ACP is surprising given the amount of time you waited to earn the rank of leader, could you shed any light on why you decided to step down?

I may have waited 16 months to earn it, and spent 2 months in the actual job, but I have no regrets with how my unique experience panned out. If I’m really honest, I actually felt I was able to achieve more as a second-in-command than a leader anyway, which perhaps has contributed to my departure. The whole experience from start to finish was incredible, albeit stressful and dramatic at times, but I’m thankful to everyone in the army for making it as memorable as it was. I think it’s important to remember that no matter what rank you are, or how long it takes you to get there, all we are left with is the memories we make and the bonds we’ve formed.

What impact do you think your departure will have on the army?

ACP has never been about individual people, it has always been an army that values community and family. I have no doubts the team there will continue to march on strong.

What was your highlight as leader of the army and what will you miss the most?

Am I supposed to say something shallow like getting first on the Top Ten or winning the Project: Conquest – hehe! No, I think my highlight would be organising the Community Pride Parade right at the start of my tenure on June 5th. I have always been vocal about my sexuality and to be able to see the entire community, with the CPR staff’s blessing, come together to celebrate and champion our powerful LGBTQIA+ members was really special.

Can we expect you to still be involved in the community, could we perhaps see you back in media or leader of another army?

I’ve been thinking about opening the Timoarmy Chalamet… do you think people would join?

Do you have anything else to add?

If anyone tells you this community is a waste of time, ignore them. We’re all here for a reason, and that’s to find a place that we belong. The memories we form will stay with us and the people we meet will impact us for the better. Take everything you can from these experiences and never look back. With love, Max (:

In this interview we can see that Max felt his achievements as 2ic did outweigh what he was able to achieve as leader, and this is what contributed to his leave from the army. However, he was keen to reiterate that he enjoyed his time within the army and had no regrets on how long it took him to achieve leader.

There is no doubt that Max’s impact as both a leader of the ACP and media mogul has been far reaching, as he leaves an undeniable impact on our community. Max’s ability to bring armies together to recognise an important issue such as LGBTQIA+ equality shows his strength as a person and leader. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see Max’s next move within the community, and whether he will make his name elsewhere. In the interview, we were definitely left hanging on this question.

The Army of CP must now continue without one of their leaders, leaving Cubster and CSY at the helm. What do YOU think will happen to the ACP? Will they be able to maintain their performance without Max? Comment YOUR opinions below.
